Kybella Frequently Asked Questions
Just a bit of extra fat in the upper throat area can create the appearance of a "double chin," which is typically an unwanted look for both women and men. The additional pockets of fat below the chin (or the submental area) can be caused by weight fluctuations, aging, or genetics that lead to a softer jawline and chin for a less defined profile. Our team of experienced medical injectors is happy to provide this revolutionary technique to reduce neck fat at Body+Beauty Lab. Approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), Kybella is a new nonsurgical option for upper neck fat. Although its commercial use is for eliminating submental fat, Kybella could also be used at our Philadelphia, PA office to eliminate smaller areas of fat throughout the body. The active component in Kybella is a synthetically made version of deoxycholic acid, which works similarly to the body's natural DA to dissolve and absorb fat cells. After it has been injected beneath the chin, you will see a visible decrease in the amount of fat. When the fat is removed, the cells will not regenerate so you can enjoy your new slender neck and defined look for years to come.
Kybella Procedure Technique
Ideal candidates for Kybella injectable treatments are those who have unwanted fat in the upper throat (submental area), which creates a double chin and unwanted volume. This injection addresses resistant areas of fat that can't be removed with common weight loss techniques either due to genetics, aging, or several other conditions. If you are near a healthy, stable weight, but exercise and diet have not helped to eliminate the fat in your submental area, Kybella may be the best option for your goals.

"I am absolutely OBSESSED with Body+Beauty Lab. I first went here for Dysport injections and will absolutely be returning. Not only is Sarah an absolute artist when it comes to injections, she is a genuinely lovely person and put me completely at ease throughout the entire process. I also trust her implicitly with lip injections, she is an ARTIST. Body+Beauty Lab is now my go-to place for all facial aesthetic needs!"- A.N. / Google / Jun 26, 2020
"I have been going to Sarah for Botox since I moved to Philly last year. She, by far, is the most professional "artist" I have ever seen. She takes a lot of time and care to really map out your face, takes copious notes so she easily remembers what was done prior, and once she spends time going over your face and talking to you - she gives your multiple different options so you never feel pressured into getting more or paying more then you want. I finally felt comfortable getting injectables - and honestly I would have only done it with her. She spend her time to really explain the whole process and what to expect. At the end of the day - I will never change, and if I move again, I probably would fly back to her. It is my face, the one thing you shouldn’t got cheap on, as it is impossible to hide a bad job. I found a rockstar!"- C.A. / Yelp / Jun 26, 2020
"Look no further than Sarah Sidiqi. Sarah is extremely knowledgable and a highly skilled specialist when it comes to injections. I’m amazed with my results. Very little swelling and absolutely no bruising. My results are extremely soft and natural, exactly what I wanted. I’m only 5 days out from my nasolabial fold injection and I absolutely love the outcome. Sarah was very thorough with presenting all of the options available in the world of fillers/botox. I never felt like she was trying to up sell me or rush me out the door. She works with precision and has a lovely bedside manner. 100% worth it. Don’t waste another minute researching another provider. Love her! Em"- J.G. / Yelp / Jun 26, 2020

Reduce Neck Fat Today
Kybella is performed during an appointment in one of our treatment rooms. Your medical injector will apply a numbing gel to the injected area, if desired, once the skin has been cleaned. The injection process typically lasts around 15 minutes and consists of a few small injections distributed into the upper neck area. While some clients may require a single treatment to get to their desired look, others could need additional treatments spaced three weeks apart at Body+Beauty Lab.
What to Expect with Kybella®
Kybella injections don't require the use of general anesthesia so you will be allowed to leave our office when you are ready to return to your daily routine. You may notice short-term numbness, bruising, or swelling below your chin, although this shouldn't last more than a couple of days. Contact Body+Beauty Lab right away if you are noticing any unusual symptoms, including difficulty swallowing, facial muscle weakness, or if your facial expressions are uneven. While the fat that is eliminated does not regenerate, the cells left over can grow larger so you need to maintain a stable weight after your Kybella treatments to prevent new pockets of fat from developing. Your outcomes from this procedure will leave your neck with a sleeker and slimmer appearance.
Kybella Ideal Candidates
How much does Kybella cost?
Kybella treatment costs will vary, depending on how many appointments you need. During your initial consultation, a personalized treatment plan will be developed to match your goals. A member of our staff will also review the payments we accept at your first appointment. If you're interested in saving money on future treatments, we invite you to learn more about our VIP membership program, which entitles members to receive special deals and discounts on several of our popular services.
How does Kybella work?
Deoxycholic acid, the active ingredient in Kybella, is designed to break down fat cells. Once the fat cells are eliminated, these cells cannot regenerate. This is why more injections shouldn't be needed as soon as you have met your goal.
Am I eligible for a Kybella treatment?
Before your consultation, you will answer a few questions to make sure you are a candidate for Kybella treatments. You need to be at least 18 years old, not breastfeeding or pregnant, and you should not have an active infection in or around your neck. Before the process begins, you are encouraged to be open about your medical history and health concerns so we can determine if you may be at risk for an adverse reaction from the treatment.
How many treatment sessions will I need?
At your initial consultation, a personalized injection plan will be created to match your cosmetic goals. Usually, patients get between 2 – 4 Kybella injections to achieve their goals. Kybella appointments need to be scheduled around 30 days apart. You shouldn't receive any more than six injections.
