About PRP/PRF Therapy
Our Philadelphia, PA office is proud to perform a version of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy know as platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) therapy at Body+Beauty Lab to help replenish your facial appearance. PRP therapy is one of the most sought-after cosmetic treatments in the industry due to its natural origins and dramatic results. Similarly, PRF therapy utilizing fibrin is becoming increasingly popular because of the high concentration of platelets present in the fibrin, which produces stunning outcomes. These treatments use a patient's very own plasma or fibrin to stimulate the skin, decreasing the prevalence of wrinkles. PRP and PRF therapy are also sometimes performed in conjunction with microneedling for even more impressive results. To learn more about both PRF and PRP therapy, contact Body+Beauty Lab in Philadelphia, PA to schedule a consultation. A member of our skilled team will eagerly discuss the benefits of these therapies and what they can do for your skin.
We offer a variety of PRP/PRF-based treatments at our premier medical spa, including:
- PRP/PRF facials
- Microneedling with PRP/PRF
- PlasmaSmooth with the Syneron Candela
- PRP/PRF hair therapy

Patients who would like to improve their skin texture and tone are usually the best candidates for PRP/PRF. Since these treatments promote collagen production naturally, it's also a wonderful treatment choice for refreshing tired-looking skin. Inform your aesthetician about any skin conditions, anemia, or blood disorders to decide if it's safe for you to undergo PRP/PRF therapy.

After you're comfortably seated in one of our secluded minor procedure areas, a small amount of blood will be taken from one of your arms and put into a centrifuge machine. Most of the time, we remove around one vial of blood. After approximately 15 minutes on the centrifuge machine, the components of the blood separate and are then ready to be injected. We will load your rich fibrin solution into a syringe and inject it into the predetermined locations. The process for PRP/PRF therapy typically only takes five minutes, but this can vary on a patient-to-patient basis.
What to Expect
Plasma and fibrin from both PRP and PRF therapy naturally promote the production of collagen and elastin to reveal tauter, more youthful-looking skin. As it uses your own blood, the risk of adverse or allergic reactions is basically nonexistent. You can expect your face to be a bit red following your session as traces of red blood cells can make it into the injection. Cold packs can be used on the injection area to minimize discomfort and swelling. Our skilled team typically recommends clients to undergo treatments in 4 – 6-week intervals to maintain results.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does PRP/PRF therapy cost?
Treatment costs for your therapy will depend on the size and number of areas being treated, as well as if you are having it performed with another treatment. Your technician will talk about a cost estimate in your consult, then review specials we are offering on PRP/PRF treatments, as well as payment options.
How long do results from PRP/PRF therapy last?
Visible results from PRP/PRF therapy may last for as long as two months. The results will vary in every person and depend on where the treatment is used. Some of the advantages of these treatments are that they don't require incisions or lengthy downtime. These injections are also more cost-effective than a surgical procedure.
What are the risks and complications of PRP/PRF therapy?
Potential side effects of this treatment on their own are mild and can include temporary swelling and bruising. If microneedling is performed with PRP/PRF therapy, possible risks include skin infection, delayed healing, and pigmentation changes.
Will PRP/PRF help replenish volume?
Neither PRP nor PRF therapy adds volume. While these platelet-rich treatments offer great results because they rejuvenate the complexion and stimulate your production of elastin and collagen, PRP/PRF treatments are not meant to increase volume. If you would like to contour areas of your face, you may add dermal fillers to your treatment plan.
Is PRP/PRF therapy painful?
Receiving PRP/PRF injections feels like a BOTOX or dermal filler injection but with the added step of drawing blood to retrieve the plasma or fibrin. Usually, patients feel a small pressure or pinch when the needle pierces the skin. If you're nervous about being uncomfortable, ask if you can receive a numbing cream to the treatment area.
When you receive PRP or PRF treatments, your complexion will look healthier and brighter than ever before and produce a glowing, beautiful appearance. This treatment is just right for women and men who desire natural techniques for skin rejuvenation that provides gorgeous results.
