Hi everyone! My name is Mary and I am an aesthetic nurse injector here at Body + Beauty Lab. I recently got married in January, and wanted to share with you all of the treatments I received before my wedding. There are so many brides out there that come in to see either myself or one of the aestheticians and have no idea on when to start their treatments leading up to their big day! Again, all of us have very different skincare needs. But I am here to share my treatment plan and hope that it helps some of you brides out there!

First and foremost, facials. My personal favorite is the HydraFacial & dermaplaning duo called the “Dermasleek” here at Body + Beauty Lab. This is a customizable facial that really helps deeply clean out the skin. It has many add-ons so that we can tailor it to meet your exact skincare needs. I did this every month for 4-5 months leading up to my wedding and then 4 days before my actual wedding for the most optimal result. It is never too early to start your HydraFacial’s! Dermaplaning is an additional add on that helps exfoliate the skin and get rid of the stubborn peach fuzz most of us have. This not only helps products absorb into the skin at a deeper level, but also makes makeup apply flawlessly. I find that it brightens the skin as well. These two combined are actual magic, and will help you to look and feel your best on your big day! Side note **if you have sensitive skin like me, you want to do this a few days out from your wedding to guarantee you don’t have a reaction to this treatment.

Moving on, the bread and the butter. Dysport  or Botox . Both neuromodulators that help relax wrinkles and make your overall skin texture look more refreshed and flawless. FDA approval is that both last around 3 months. I am very tedious with my Dysport treatments and timed it out that I got my last treatment exactly 1 month before my wedding. I personally like my Dysport the best when it is a month out from treatment day. Some people like it more when you are two weeks out, when it is much stronger and at its “peak”. I can’t stress this enough that if you are thinking about getting either Botox or Dysport done before your wedding, that you start treatment at least 1 year in advance so that you can see if you like it! Areas we normally treat with Botox or Dysport are the forehead lines, the lines in-between your brows, otherwise known as the “11’s” and the fine lines around your eyes, known as the “crow’s feet”. Other areas that I love treating with Botox or Dysport are around the mouth, which we call a lip-flip which helps show more of the pink of your lip, and the “gummy smile”, which is a muscle that pulls the lip up and exposes more gums than we sometimes want exposed. **Side note, I like to treat my brides with a light dose around the eyes so that when taking the million pictures that happen on that day, you still look like yourself and have some of the lines that make you, you!

Next is the dreaded, but wonderful, Morpheus-8. This is where the term, “Beauty is Pain” gets its name. The reason I say that is because it hurts like a you know what, but delivers AMAZING results. Not to worry, we use topical numbing cream that works wonders, and you numb for about an hour beforehand. The morpehus-8 is a microneedling device that utilizes radiofrequency energy to completely remodel and contour the face and body. It helps with skin tightening, fine lines, and even acne scars. It truly is a treatment that everyone can benefit from. The reason I wanted to do it before my wedding was to tighten my lower face, jawline, and neck. We ALWAYS recommend at least 3 treatments of this procedure spaced about 4-6 weeks apart from each other. Side note** there is a little bit of downtime with this procedure so you want to make sure that you meet  with your aesthetician to go over the timeline of this in regards to your wedding day.

Next on the list, is Kybella. Kybella is an injection that is done that helps breakdown stubborn fat. It is a derivative of deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. Once this fat is destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. So, once you reach your optimal result, no further treatment is required. Making this it essentially permanent. The most popular area for this is underneath the chin for the dreaded, “double-chin”. Before my wedding, I got one treatment of Kybella underneath my chin, as well as in my “bra fat”. Since I was wearing a strapless dress, this helped tremendously. We usually recommend 3 treatments of this spaced 4-6 weeks apart depending how much bulk you have, but again, everyone is different and requires different things so to come in for a consultation is best! Optimal results are about 12 weeks AFTER your last treatment, so it is important to come in and meet with us long before your wedding day to discuss this treatment. **Side note- Kybella makes you EXTREMEMLY swollen and can leave bruising too, so you want to make sure you have nothing important to do for about two weeks after the treatment.

Last but not least, filler. The filler that I received before my wedding day was a hyaluronic acid filler. Hyaluronic Acid, (otherwise known as HA) is a naturally occurring sugar molecule made in the body. Some genius decided to cross link it with a gel and make different kinds of filler. Because of the cross-linking, it stays around longer than our natural HA, and eventually, the body breaks it down and reabsorbs it. Filler usually lasts around 8-12 months and is for restoring volume as well as helping smooth transitions. The areas I treated with filler was my chin, jawline, and my “pre-jowl” for facial balancing and more of an airbrushed look. (Can you tell I wanted my lower face & jawline to be snatched for my big day?)

Now I know this sounds like a LOT to most people, and you’re not wrong. This also isn’t me saying you need to get all of this done before your big day. This is just to help anyone that may be interested in having some aesthetic treatments done before your wedding and a little bit more information on the different treatments that can be done to make you look and feel your best! If you are a bride-to-be, the best thing is to make an appointment well in advance to your wedding day, and to come meet with both a medical injector, as well as a medical aesthetician to assure we are covering all our bases and making the treatment plan tailored just for you!
